About Me

I love style.  I love looking at beautiful things, being surrounded by them and wearing them.  I love fashion, interior design, great books, and art.

I'm in my thirties.  I live in a small town in Ohio.  I have kids.  To get my hands on a designer label requires an hour drive.  I have about 20 minutes in the morning to pull myself together before I walk out the door for the day.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I think there are lots of fun-to-read, popular blogs about style, written by twenty-year olds who have seemingly unlimited funds to spend on clothes and interiors and massive amounts of time to put together their looks.  They're aspirational.  Just like Vogue and In Style.  Mixing Marc Jacobs, Prada, and Gucci with American Apparel, Forever 21, and Topshop does not make their style obtainable to most of us.

Looking fabulous in top designer labels is easy.  Having your home decorated by a professional with unlimited resources will ensure your home is beautiful.  Some do it better than others, but at the end of the day, when you're wearing a legend, or are styled by a professional, you look gorgeous.  And that's great.

But this blog is for the rest of us.  It's possible to look just as fabulous in affordable attire.  To have a beautiful home on a budget.  I don't spend my money on Prada shoes, because I save it for my kids' college fund.  But practicality does not need to replace style.

If you can relate to that, this blog is for you.  I'm not suggesting not reading those other blogs and magazines for inspiration.  Some you will find on my "Great Reads" page.  It's fun to escape and be encompassed in a world of socialites who travel and are immersed in a world of culture, fashion, and beauty.  But come here to find beautiful, affordable items that will not blend into the crowd.  Even if you do have money and time to burn, you will be released from the sea of last Spring's Pucci print or next Fall's Missoni knits.  You will take true ownership of your style.  Real-world, one-of-a-kind couture is easily available and accessible to us all.  I'll show you here.  I'd love to hear your ideas too, so please comment any time.
